Inspired by a real-life tradition between Santiago and her son Cameron, The Jar of Kisses tells the tender story of a mother named Elena who collects her son Mateo’s kisses in a special jar each night. As the years go by and life changes, the jar becomes a beautiful symbol of love, comfort, and memory that carries on long after the kisses fade. 

“This book was born out of a simple, imaginary tradition between me and my son,” Santiago shares. “I used to tell him that I saved all of his kisses in a jar. That small idea stayed with me for years—and eventually became this story of love that doesn’t end, even when life does.”

The Jar of Kisses is a moving tribute to the parent-child bond and the legacies we leave behind.  With deeply human characters, warm storytelling, and touching illustrations, the book reminds readers that even the smallest moments—like a simple kiss—can become lasting treasures.

The book’s release on July 9, 2025, comes just two days before Santiago laid her mother, Ella Mae Henderson-Tucker, to rest. Her passing on June 13 and the emotional weight of the funeral on July 11 made the release especially meaningful.

“I released this story into the world, the same week I said goodbye to the woman who loved me first,” she says. “The Jar of Kisses is not only for Cameron, it’s for my mother.  And for every heart that’s ever needed a reminder that love never truly leaves us.”
